Please join us on May 18 for SMRWF’s next Saturday Salon with Natasha Trenev, Empowerment through Health Choice: Asserting Our Human Rights. Born in Belgrade, Yugoslavia in 1947, Ms. Trenev and her family fled the shortages of basic necessities created by the communist regime, embarked on a harrowing journey to America in 1954, and ultimately settled in Los Angeles. Her father revolutionized the yogurt industry here by developing a brand of Bulgarian yogurt that was nutritious and delicious. Building on her parent’s business success, Ms. Trenev graduated from UCLA and became an authority on kefir and probiotics. For more than 40 years, Ms. Trenev has been leading the scientific community in the acquisition of knowledge of probiotics and is an expert in yogurt technology and liquid acidophilus. She is President and Founder of Natren, Inc., authored the Probiotic Standards adapted by the National Product Association, and is also recognized as an educator, research scientist, author, and television and radio personality. Like many of us, she is concerned the country is headed in the wrong direction and will share how her experience as an immigrant has shaped these concerns. This event will be held at a member’s home in Santa Monica (address provided upon confirmation of paid RSVP). Seating is limited; advance registration required. A fee of $10 for members and $15 for nonmembers will be charged to cover the host’s expenses.
