Spring into knowledge at our April 9 luncheon with Dr. Lance Izumi, Senior Director of the Center for Education at the Pacific Research Institute. Lance is co-author of The Great Parent Revolt: How Parents and Grassroots Leaders Are Fighting Critical Race Theory in America’s Schools, co-author of Not as Good as You Think: Why the Middle Class Needs School Choice, and author of The Great Classroom Collapse: Teachers, Students, and Parents Expose the Collapse of Learning in America’s Schools. Lance was also co-executive producer of the award winning 2009 PBS documentary Not as Good as You Think: The Myth of the Middle Class School. He also appeared in Academy Award winning director Davis Guggenheim’s 2010 education film documentary Waiting for Superman. Lance served as chief speechwriter for Governor George Deukmejian and also served as speechwriter for U.S. Attorney General Edwin Meese III in President Ronald Reagan’s administration. Lance served two terms as president of the Board of Governors of the CA Community Colleges. From 2016-2017, he served as a member of President Donald Trump’s Agency Action Team for education policy, where he authored recommendations for the incoming Trump administration. Also joining our April luncheon lineup is Roxanne Beckford Hoge, a former business owner, mom of four and former actress known for her roles in Bewitched, Something’s Gotta Give and Father of the Bride. She is now the Chairman of the Los Angeles County Republican Party. Roxanne did a series of PragerU videos on the scourge of CRT and has written several articles, including one on the root cause of unaffordable SoCal housing for the LA Daily News and for American Greatness. Her work to help connect disaffected parents and question political leadership led to a profile in Bari Weiss’ Common Sense and her experience in several campaigns is being collected for a book. Roxanne has appeared multiple times on Fox, CNN, OANN, as well as local news and radio outlets. Advance registration required by Monday, March 31. $58 for members; $68 for nonmembers/guests.
